gardening with pa

We are so lucky that Paul's dad (a.k.a. "Pa") is planting a garden here at our house again this year (fortunately for us, their new place in Avila doesn't have enough room for a garden). This time around, Avery had the task of tending the tomato starts until the garden soil was ready for them to be planted. She diligently watered them on a daily basis (along with anything else she had enough water for) for the past couple of weeks. Surprisingly enough, they endured her "care" and yesterday the tomato plants went in the ground! The girls LOVE to help Pa plant, water, and just play in the dirt. They have so much fun, they get to hang out with Pa on a daily basis, it is a GREAT learning opportunity for ALL of us, and we will get to enjoy a bounty of fresh vegetables as the season progresses! My mouth is already watering for fresh salsa, tomato and cucumber salad, and Grandma Lee's yummiest zucchini bread! I think we have a good thing going.
