While Paul was here in Oregon with us, we went to Fiddler's Green- a must go everytime we are up here for all things golf and sports apparel in general. Avery came across a pink starter set complete with a PINK bag and 3 PINK clubs. So, with Uncle Day Day and daddy there, it was as good as hers the moment she saw it. They both have BIG dreams of Avery becoming the next Michelle Wie. We had to order it and just picked it up today. Day Day had fun trying to show her how to swing the clubs "correctly." He learned after a while (and a little frustration on his part) that at this point, it is more important for her to just have fun- the technique will come. Finley had fun playing with the clubs too. Maybe they are both destined for golf greatness?! That would be Paul's ultimate dream (short of having a NBA star son of course). Now, if he could just convince me that golf is the best way I could spend 5 hours of my precious time, he would be set! The clothes are really cute, so there may be some hope yet.

back to Iraq he goes
My baby sister is engaged to Logan Johnson who is in the army and currently serving in Iraq. He has been home on leave during the time that we have been in Oregon visting, so we have gotten to spend some time with him and Tiffany. My girls have grown to love "Uncle Loggie"- especially Finley- she will chose him over most anyone else if given the choice. Logan leaves to go back to Iraq tomorrow morning, so his family put together BBQ for him so he could say "see you soon" to his family and friends. I was appointed picture taker by his mom, Gloria. She wanted pictures of Logan with his brothers (he has two older brothers that I went to high school with and then one younger brother too), his nieces and nephews, grandparents, and other family. Here is what I came away with...

slip n slidin'
We had some friends up to my dad's house for a little BBQ get together and let all the kids have fun with the slip n slide. Once we got it set up where it was on enough of a slope and doused it with dish soap to maximize slipperiness, the kids had a ball!
At one point, after standing in the burning sun, watching the kids get wet and therefore cool, the slip n slide looked so enticing, that a few of us adults got in on the action. I found out quickly that those of us with larger masses didn't need to hurl ourselves quite as forcefully down the slide as the little people. With a running start, I went down fast and then flew OFF the end of the slide. Ouch. My neck was sore for a few days after, but it was worth it. I got cooled off and had a little thrill in the process.
